The island is also famous for having one of the best beaches in the Dubrovnik area.
Lopud is an Elaphiti island located between the islands of Šipan and Koločep. It is well connected to
the Dubrovnik port by daily ferry lines. The biggest village on the island is also named Lopud and it is located in a picturesque bay with a Franciscan monastery on the waterfront surrounded by palm and citrus trees.
The hiking trail starts at the Lopud port and follows the streets and steps outside of the village all the way up to the magnificent viewpoint where the Kastio fort and the Church of St. John are located. Past that point, the hiking trail continues along the Šunj beach with a view overlooking the cliffs on the southern side of the island.
